Film photography / 35mm
Grandpa’s gift, the old russian Zenit 122 is very valuable to me. In fact, this camera has taught me some important observer skills. I am curious about people in their daily routines, and managing to capture some of the noteworthy moments I notice has brought me much thrill. Film taught me to be patient, to wait for the right moment. To be brave and fearless, also to respect people. Many times I’ve had to talk to people to form a friendly atmosphere and put them at ease before I could take a picture of them. At other times, it was important not to interrupt a situation or a facial expression, when I had to be quiet, invisible, and quick. Photography has given me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone considerable amount of times, and it’s a quality I highly value and use within the process of designing as well.
