"Collecting images, stripping them of their initial context, and pasting them into new compositions is an act of subversion, sometimes even a subtle yet bold form of protest. One of the most salient qualities of collage is its distinctive capacity to tread the fine line between the tragic and the humorous like no other medium. Collage offers the means to exert control over the flood of images we are confronted with daily by usurping them and twisting, ignoring, defying, or mocking their original implications."
